How do I put on a starter brace on a 350 sbc?

Hello guys I have been reading about how your supposed to use a starter brace on 350 small block chevy. I currently have two trucks with 350's in them and neither one has a starter brace on them. The 86 s10 I have has a gear drive starter on it and my dad said I don't need one since it does not pull as hard as a torque drive starter. My other 96 s10 has a plain old torque starter and I don't want to risk damaging my new 350 to put in it this weekend. I will eventually get a gear drive for it when funds permit but for the time being I will use whats on it. But the question I have looking at a picture of one on summit's website I can't tell how it goes on. Any help or photos would be nice. Thanks for help guys.
Eric

If you are talking about a stock starter, the brace goes from one of the long bolts that holds the starter motor onto the housing to a boss on the side of the engine block under the head, just behind the motor mount. Look at the bottom of this diagram.

Starter Brace

The rear of the starter has one bolt that is longer than the others. One end if the brace attaches to this bolt. The other end of the brace bolts to the engine block via a threaded hole in the block located just below the block/head joint.

Not sure....it would likely have to be longer....ask where you get the mini starter
