how do I remove this bushing on a T-350

I got this in a reseal kit for replacing the speedometer drive gear. In the kit is this bushing. It is located in front of the rear seal. How do I get it out?

Also what is the best way to remove the rear seal without a seal puller?

Also, is it better to have an aluminum gear housing or is it ok to use a plastic one.

Pry the seal out w/ an appropriate tool , then you need an appropriate size driver to drive the bushing out/in ..

go to autozone and rent a bearing and bushing driver set if you don't have a seal puller use the screwdriver to bend the metal retainer ring on the seal and pry it out

How much is it to rent stuff at autozone? To make sure I understand, I bend the seal with a screw driver and then pry it out with pliers?

i got the seal out. I tried using a harbor freight bushing driver. The disc shattered when I tried to drive out the bushing

Is it neccesary to replace the bushing?

I called autozone. They wanted 50 bucks to rent the set. They also don't have the size that I need. I measured the new bushing and it is roughly 1 5/8 inch. The autozone only had sizes up to 1 3/8.

They probably wanted a $50 deposit- that's returned to you when you return the undamaged tool.

In any event, try another parts store or two until you find what you need. You can also ask for a universal cam bearing removal/installation tool to use instead.

The bushing can be removed w/o a puller, but I hesitate to say to do it because of the chance of damage if it's not done right. If you want to search for more, I'd bet there's threads and even videos on it.

You can remove the bushing with a bushing cutter. Snapon sells them.

If you are careful you can use just about any solid chunk of metal to drive the bushing back in providing that the metal is flat against the bushing and large enough for the edge of the bushing to fully contact the metal.

Interesting tool, Do you just put the side of the curve on the edge of the bushing and hammer?

Anyway I decided I will leave the old bushing on for now. I found specs about how much the yoke can wiggle in the bushing and I should be ok, Besides the trans was rebuilt not to long ago and has few miles on it.

You place either side of the curve (the narrowest part of the tool) in the seam between the bushing and the item, then drive with a hammer.

I have worn out several of them over the years. My current one is about 2" shorter than when it was new.
