How Do I Take Out A/C?

My '31 A came with an air conditioning system. I have no idea what it's out of, but I am virtually certain it's not an aftermarket unit. I've never used it and it doesn't really fit the character of the car I am building.

So, how do I take it out? I am not sure what the coolant is, or even if there is anything left in the system. Do I need to take it somewhere and have them drain the gas before I dismantle it? Other than obviously needing fewer brackets and a need to resize my drivebelts, what else do I need to be aware of?

yes, take it and have it done

back in the dark ages(1960's-80's),we used to put the hose into water and drain the system that way,now that i know what damage flourocarbons do to our planet, even if it's charged with r-134 take it and have it pumped out at a licensed shop.I don't care how good of a friend the cut-rate person is have it done professionally
