Question how-to exchange the one piece rear main seal

How is this done?

My books only mention how to do it on the old 2piece version

The engine is out of the car.

Do I just price to old one out with a screw driver , clean the crank, grease the new one and tap it into place?

thanks!

Remove the bolts from the back of the block that retain the seal housing, use a screwdriver and carefully pry out the old seal, clean the seal surface and use a block of wood and a rubber mallet to install the new seal, coat the seal good in vaseline or similiar lube.

LT1

When I've done this on LT1's I never had to unbolt the seal housing. Just pry the seal out and tap a new, lubed one in. be careful not to scratch any surfaces.
No, you do not have to remove the pan. However, you do have to remove the transmission and flywheel/flexplate.
