How far in the yoke should be??
Hi,
How far in the yoke should be on the trans th400 spline to be safe. I am asking because my friend gave me this drive shaft with the yoke for the th400 but the end of the yoke was cut and do not know how mutch it was cut.  Luc

First make sure the yoke has splines all the way to the end, many don't. Then push the yoke into the trans all the way then pull it out 1-1 1/2" this will be the approximate best place for the yoke to ride.

This is not what I am asking....
I already have the 3/4 inch or so of sliding effect for the suspension travel. I want to know if 2inch or so on the shaft is fine without stripping the splines off the shaft or on the yoke.

Spline
The tale shaft of the trans will allow for up to 6 inches of engagement. To keep from screwing up the splines in the yoke you want at least 2.50 engagement. The shaft can move in and out about 1.00. So you want minimum engagement of 3.0 inches. More is better.
