Post How to get to the speedometer gear on a Turbo 400?

Below where the speedometer cable screws on there is a horseshoe shaped piece that holds the threaded part to the transmission casing. After
removing the 10mm bolt and the horseshoe shaped piece there are three tabs on the round plate which appear to be to tap with a screwdriver to
unscrew it but it just spins and does not loosen. Then I thought maybe the whole thing would just pull out but that won't work either. How do I remove it to replace the gear?

it does not thread out it just has an o-ring on it, the accumulation of crud and corrosion over the years is the only thing holding it in, be careful and it will come out if you pry on it .
