How To lift The Rear Of A 69 Camaro

Hey guys,

I have a restored 69 Camaro and I want to lift the rear end up just a little (about 1") I don't want to use air shock for such a short lift and I don't want to extend the shackles. I think that looks tacky. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? Do they make a coilover shocks for the rear if that would even work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Jim

You can have the springs re-arched. I think coilovers are just about as bad as air shocks. I agree about the shackles and can remember my Superior 500s on my first car (67 Camaro). Hung way down from under the car.

Can you extend the shackles to get your inch without having them fall below the rear valence?

Personally, I think replacing the springs or arching them is the best fix.

You could do one of two things for a very cheap amount of money. Either go down to autozone and order a set of 1 lift/lower blocks or get and add a leaf kit. Either one will give you one inch of lift.

lift the rear

if you dont want to buy shackel make them yourself. go to a local steel shop and tell them you want 4 peices of 3/8 steel with 2 9/16 holes punched in each one. you will have to measure your current hole centerline and just add an inch. I got mine for about 20 bucks.
