how long does it take n.j. dmv???

its been 2 months since I applied for my "QQ" plates from new jersey motor vehicle, i called and they said it was going to be a couple more weeks.why?? the 70 nova has been a project of mine for 5 years now. i just to cruise with the boys! do you know what i mean? any jersey hot rodders out there have this problem??
