Well, change the gearing to a higher final drive gear ratio, won't be quicker off the line but will hold a higher top speed, if you want a quicker car as in like 1/4 mile, I'm not shure, don't do the import 4cyl stuff, but I think a 350 Chevy engine would fit nicely on a tube chassie and the car converted to a RWD

The fastest i ever got mine to go was 55mph, and that was on the bed of a tow truck.

I think you can fit an Acura engine in there to pump out some decent horses.
But I'm not totally sure.

Or maybe its an infinity engine, not sure.

i have a video of a 70s Z-car with a centrifugally SC'd sbc... I think it's a 383 or somethin... either way hit it at 45 and it lays rubber as the back end squirms around. It's perverted driving at it's finest!

Kinda like a Solstice with a Corvette LS7... 427 cubes in a roller skate hehe!

how fast do you want to go and how much money do you have? Considering those two parameters and if they are in the black you could go 200 mph if you wanted

Guys, if you havn't picked up an "Import racer" or other import targeted magazines you will eat your words on these little cars. It is VERY common for a STREET Honda Civic to run in the 12's. And full race cars into the 9's!! We are talking 2 liter four banger front wheel drive HONDAS, NISSANS, MAZDAS, etc.

An 89 240SX IS Rear Wheel Drive

I had one. Lots of fun, however I sold it so I could put my 71 Riviera back on the road.. much, much faster. Altho that 240 will spin tires all day as well as the Buick.

What I was told when I had my 89 240 was to find the Japanese 2.0L engine which was turbo charged. DET20 something or other engine.

There's a place in CA that imports those eninges. No Nissan was sold in the US with one already in it.

making a 240 faster

The most common thing is to do a motor swap. either the sr20det or the twin cam ka24. you can turbo your stock single cam but you have to keep it under 10 pounds of boost.

No Pepi, they aren't my "thing" but I do have respect for someone skilled enough to get a 2 liter front drive car to go faster than a any car I have ever had with big V8's, posi, slicks, and two carbs that are bigger than the darn Honda motor. You don't have to go out and buy one to appreciate what the guys do with them.

By the way, I do have as a daily driver, a Ford Taurus SHO. It has a 3.0 Liter YAMAHA v6. It surprizes a lot of people, it will turn 14.90's at about 95 mph. Leather interior, sun roof, a/c, cd, power seats, keyless entry, it is a very nice comfortable ride, with a Yamaha engine. Never thought I would own such a thing being a die hard American iron fan. But it fell in my lap for a good price and I love it. Runs like a scalded ape. Runs darn near as fast as my 65 Gran Sport 401 in street trim.

MARTIN, a lot of those cars also weigh 2200 lbs or so versus the often 3300lb or more V8 cars. Drop a 500hp V8 in a 2200lb car and it'll scream too.

Medina, find yourself a small centrifugal supercharger.

The only way to get your 240SX to go faster is to get on one of the numerous forums related to that car and ask the people there. (they'll have alot more members who work on that style car obviously.)
