I don't have any idea how much power it will make, but I do know that the 6500 chip won't work. At 12.5 c.r., you'll need a cam that will make power from 4,500 to 8,000.

If you use this cam in a motor with a static compression ratio of 12.5:1, the early intake closing point will trap an excessive amount of mixture and the motor will detonate like shaking rocks in a tin can, followed closely by the disassembly of the top ring lands on the pistons and cracks running through to the wrist pins. Maybe that will be a little easier to understand. |

thanks for responding
Ok then.so the cam is too big i thought as much i got it for free. a buddy had it and said i was going to hate it. bought the pistons when gas was half what is today!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im thinking of a nice set of flat tops. best bang for the buck. forged??? or hypereutectic.??? with the cost of racing fuel i need to get the comp. down to pump gas range. or am i going the wrong way keep the pistons and change the cam or both... I have a crane cams blue racer
488/510 with a duration of 234/244 ,, I need to get it in gear. the wife is driving me nuts. she wants to drive it real bad !!!!!! thanks for your help keeping me on track monte61 |

No, you misunderstand. The cam is too SMALL for the available static compression ratio. If you want to do this properly, please provide some information.....
type vehicle and weight intended purpose of the vehicle trans type and rear gear ratio is idle quality important? will you need to operate vacuum operated accessories such as power brakes? do you want to keep the 6" rods? operating range of the motor.....idle to 4500, 1500 to 5000, 2000 to 5500, 2500 to 6000, 3000 to 6500 or what? |
