Post how many teeth does my flexplate have?

I have a 70 elco. and my flexplate is cracked causing it to rattle like a bent rod but i was going to order one from b&m but i dont know how many teeth it has it is a 350/350 is it 153 tooth? or 168 tooth? and they have em externally balanced also. should i get the one thats externally balanced? what is the differance between them? any help would be great thanx...

DO NOT get the externally balanced one they have weights for the 400 SBC.You'll have a vibration and a balance problem if you do.
As far as teeth I'm pretty sure that the 168 tooth goes with the staggered starter head pattern.I also don't think 350s had the 153 pattern but not possitive.
Your best bet is to climb under the car and mark a tooth in Magicmarker then count teeth.Use visegrips clamped on the flexplate to turn it over.
Also I've had a bad flexplate eating problem.I went with a thicker than stock SFI approved flexplate seems to work better.

All 82 and up GM's have the 153 tooth flywheel and small clutch (10.5") They use the straight bolt pattern starter and small flywheel bolt pattern with internal balance and a 1 piece rear main seal. Your's will have 168 teeth and external balance and large bolt pattern with two piece bolt pattern. Good luck

I have had several 350 sbc's and they all had the 168 tooth flexplate. They all had TH-350 tranny's too..

I'm pretty sure that seven might be the magic number. lol I posted at a buddys house and ment to type 2 piece rear main seal on that last part
