Can anyone tell me how to measure my Exhaust Centerline Using a degree wheel? I have verified ALL other cam specs on my cam card but this one. For some reason – this ECL is not working out for me.
Here is what I did:
1. Found True TDC, using degree wheel, for #1 Piston
a. Cam gear dot is at 6 o’clock and crank gear dot is at 12 o’clock
2. Installed Cam Checker Tool into exhaust lifter bore (zeroed it out)
3. Rotated clockwise till I achieved Max Exhaust Lobe lift (rezero it out)
4. Rotate counterclockwise till to .100 and back to .050 on indicator, wrote down the degree that the needle was pointing to on degree wheel
5. Rotated clockwise back to max lift and then down this other side till the indicator read .050 again.
6. I added those two numbers and divided by two and cam up with 71+173 divided by 2 = 122. There is no way this is correct.
Anyone?
