[Half Breed]

I have a TH400 truck transmission that was just built by a local performance shop. I do not know alot about transmissions so forgive me, but they put alto red bands in it, upgraded sprag, hardened gears, transbrake, reverse manual valvebody,(all JW parts) etc, etc..... it cost me $1400 dollars and they promised it would hold 800hp. My motor is a 406 sbc that dynoed @ 578 flywheel hp, and I will be adding a 200 shot of nitrous. Providing the transmission has been assembled properly, how many passes down the track might it last before the next rebuild?

Most likely will last till you need to freshen the engine or even longer...? Turbo 400`s are tough and when built right they are just plain bullet proof... The real killer of most automatics is torque and that SBC while good on HP the torque is not monster like a BBC so it should survive even longer... (in theory) But in time all things break...

Try to keep it as clean and cool as possible and you shouldn't have to worry about it for a long time.

There are many upgraded parts for the t-400. I 've build 400's for alcohol funny cars with a claimed 2500 hp.

If you are running the hp you post and 200hp NOS... you will need a strong converter with anti-balloon plates.
