The 8.5" rearend should be able to handle 400h.p., maybe a little more if you are running street tires and an automatic! Maybe a little less if you are running a manual and 11.5" slicks!

Now thats a dilly of a pickle
but i geuss so because the 12 bolt's ring gear is only 8.6" ..... Someone correct me if im wrong but the only difference is the pan and maby the vehicle weight load.what does everyone think about the 8.5" 10 bolt running about 550 fps of torque with 3:73 posi locker new bearings and seals and stock axels with new studs with 245 street tires ???
