how much does the release bearing need to move to release clutch?

Setting up a new hydraulic clutch which is a retrofit in a 62 Studebaker. I have a 327 SBC, Muncie M21 and a stock replacement clutch. My question is...once the release bearing contacts the spring on the clutch, how much travel is required to release the clutch from the pressure plate? By this I mean how much does the release bearing have to move in order to release the clutch? Thanks.
