Ten to twelve quarts if the trans and torque converter are dry. Depends on size and length of transmission cooler lines and size of trans cooler.
Pour one quart into the torque converter before installing it.
Pour 4 quarts into the trans before starting the engine. (Any more at this point will cause what will appear as overfill because the fluid can not be pumped into the trans until the engine has been started.)
Start the engine. Continue to add additional fluid. Check the dipstick. Add fluid until the FULL mark has been reached.
Move the shift lever thru all the gear positions with the brakes applied.
Recheck fluid level. Add as required to FULL mark.
Check for leaks. (Lower end of filler tube, trans lines, etc.)
You'll need to add some for the cooler and cooler lines if you have them.
