How much paint?
I'll be repainting front end on 97 Acura CL.
Ill be painting hood, bumper, both fenders and both doors, blending into quarter panels. Is one quart of paint going to be enough? I;ll be using PPG DBC Deltron 2000

There's a few spots that require bodywork, so not the whole panels need paint. However I;ll have to paint whole panels as each fender has spot, bumper and hood, as well as doors have spots where dents were fixed and need paint. I think I;ll seal those spots and then shoot 2-3 coats of paint over entire panels. I won't be sealing all the panels.

Then paint over your repaired area first and get those areas, covered. Once those areas are covered, give the front end, doors one good coat for even color and blend into the quarters...With this information 1 Quart should be enough. Are you blending your clear into the rear sail panel, or how are you approaching that?
Also, if this is the color I think it is, there are a few variances (different formulas for the color to get you the best match), take either your car or a piece of your car to the paint jobber and match the proper color with variant chips they have on hand, this will save you a lot of time and money blending your color and give you an optimum color match. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. Think of it this way, 1 quart of Deltron 2000 Base coat is reduced 1 to 1, giving you 2 sprayable quarts...Your HVLP gun's pot should not hold a sprayable quart, in all probability 3/4 quart maximum, giving you almost 3 full pots of paint. Again, I don't know your spraying techniques and that is a variable but, one pot full of paint should be almost enough to go over the entire car, I said almost. If (as I mentioned earlier) you get coverage on your sealed areas first and on your last coat give the front clip a full coat of base, do your blend into the quarters, you should have paint left over. If you want 1 and 1/2 quarts of base for insurance, that's OK, you should without a doubt have paint left over

Being this is a dark color and I;ll be shooting over sealed spots + original scuffed/prepped panels I think 2 quarts sprayable will do just fine. PPG Deltron covers very well.
Plan is to shoot coat or two over repaired spots and then shoot 2-3 coats over entire panels and blend into quarters. |

PPG's Deltron is generally a good hiding paint. Just make sure, you get coverage and use the rest on the existing painted surfaces...you should be fine.

Here's some pics of work I've done so far, hopefully will be shooting 2K high build here in a day or two.
Repaired rip in the bumper cover, then there's a few dents I've fixed. Painting bumper cover, hood, both fenders, both doors and blending into quarters. Quite a job but I want to get it finished and out of garage. This one has been a bit frustrating and I've lost a bit of sleep over it over lol |

Too much work and its 16 year old car that customer is not paying me extra to do all of this. He wanted me to paint right over crack in bumper, etc.
I'm already doing more work than what customer is paying and there would have to be more bodywork involved fixing little dings/scratches on back end of the car. |

Keep up the good work.

You can also buy a qt of omini (30-40.00) to use for the first 2-3 coats and a pint of the good stuff if you dont have the left overs...I saved about 600.00 on the last all over I did this way...The price of paint is getting outragous.. |
