how much paint will i need

i am doing a red bccc paint job on a 1966 gto hardtop. it is a color change so i have disassembled the car and am doing jambs and everything. how much paint will it take using nason paint? i picked up a gallon of paint plus reducers yesterday. will that be enough? i am using a hvlp gun w 1.4 tip.

since i plan to do it next 4th of july weekend when the stores are closed i am trying to head off potential problems. thanks

If your painting metallic, get more paint. Another gallon would be safe. Nason metallics take a lot of paint to cover, Ask me how I know.

If you want to be safe get two gallons, you then reduce it 1:1 to make 4 gallons spray-able. Yes it sounds like a lot of paint but if your doing jambs, under deck lid, inside doors ect you will need it, plus some left over for miscellaneous stuff.

Being a PPG Rep, I would suggest to get (2) two Gallons of paint....Remember to get the right reducer to match the weather conditions......In reguards to clear coat if you are just jamming parts out you can use spot clear to speed up the drying. I just finished up painting a 70 Chevelle w/ WA519F a very high metallic silver and it took almost 3 Gallons Non-Sprayable with black sealer. If you have any other questions feel free to ask....Roger

You don't normally sand between the base coats unless you need to correct a problem, or you have gone way past the re-coat window. The PPG DBC that I used I waited about 40 minutes between coats.
