Given you're name here 87iroc are you putting this motor in this car? If so why 650 holley? Mainly be careful of compression ratios just because a piston says it will net 9.0:1 doesn't mean you will get it. Things should be checked etc when assembled and if needed deck or mill the block or heads to get the desired ratio. I find with cheaper pistons etc that you end up with 8.3:1 instead of the intended 9.0:1 you expected. If a cam is to big and or compression is too low its a bad thing. Also note the price of fuel if you try to push you're comp ration higher like 10:0.1 you will have to run super all the time. Since you said this is you're first build I would ask a lot of questions take you're time and do a lot of research. It's always best to have a realistic goal and a plan on how to get there.

yes take them off you dont run guide plates with self aligning rocker arms use 1 or the other

not to mention you need hardened/chromeolly pushrods with guideplates

You'll have a pretty insane mismatch with the heads and cam. The cam won't start making power until 4000 rpms, and those heads will be all out of breath by 4800.

In my opinion, WAAAAYY too much cam. You'll be back in a month wondering why your idle is so rich, you can't operate your brakes, and wondering why it has no "oomph." Make sure you have at least 10.5:1 compression (11:1 is better) and a deep wallet to pay for all the 104 octane Also make sure you have the RIGHT valvesprings, not just "performance." At that lift and duration, I would also expect you'll lose some rocker studs.

I think you'll be highly disappointed, but I would guess you should expect 300-325 hp. That cam could easily support 450-500 with the right heads.

Cheap factory smogger heads means cheap factory smogger power. Those heads would be well matched with a cam that is more like 252 advertised/204 duration @ 50. 246 duration is really race-only territory which means race-prepped heads.

Sorry to be the downer, but you get what you pay for and I'm not in the mood for sunshine and BS

Look at combo 15 here. It lists all the parts to make the power you want, but it's in a 383 stroker motor, not a 350.
http://www.ryanscarpage.50megs.com/combos2.html

If I were you, I wouldn't be expecting much out of the combo you put together. A classic mis-match of parts.

The first thing you want to do if you want 500hp is to call the bank and have the limit increased on your Visa card

Well then you need to start off the post with something like "Hey Curtis,....." or "ATTENTION CURTIS" or "Lookin' for an answer from Curtis here" or something similar to that. This is an open forum and most anybody will answer most anything they want to if you don't specify that you want an answer from a specific person. I really didn't think you'd like my answer though, because I didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. It is what it is.
