How Much should Materials cost?

I did a search but only found shop prices for paint jobs
77 Impala, I plan on using an Epoxy Primer, Base coat/Clear Coat, minor filler work, Car will be in Primer for a while and be outside.
what is a rough estimate, of the Material cost IE Tape, Epoxy Primer, Base Coat, Catalyzers, ETC... I will need on hand before beginning.

Vince, I'm right across the street from you, bud! Look me up sometime, I'll PM you with my number.

BTW, I just bought a gallon of SPI epoxy primer, a gallon of SPI hi-build primer, and 2 gallons of water-based cleaner for $318.00 shipped. Each gallon of SPI will make 2 gallons of sprayable material, so 4 gallons for ~ $250.00 w/o shipping.

Other guys probably know more, but i just priced stuff for my 76 monte, I'm in the northeast and prices are higher out hear: It looks like a gal of urethane base (dupont) and reducer, was ~$130. All told, w/ epoxy primer, primer, bc/cc, it was around $450. Thats assuming 1.5 gal of base with 1:1 dilution, doing the door jams and all. Hope this helps. - Adam

Go here and read the tech sheets, much easier than me trying to explain what's already been said...

Let me see if I got this right

Using Southern Polyurathanes Inc to prime the Car
I would need to strip the car and get an 80 grit finish

Use # 700-1 Wax & Grease remover to prep
Use # 6620-1 Black Epoxy 1:1 with #6700-1 Epoxy Activator

Body filler to satisfaction and if no Bare metal reappers

Use #6315-1 Black High Build Primer 4:1 # 6350-4 Turbo Activator
and #8701-1 Medium Urathane Reducer mixed 4/1/1

then be ready for final sanding and laying a Base coat then Clear coat

Can the urathane reducer clean both the Epoxy and Primer from the gun?

YES. It will do a better job than lacquer thinner, especially on the epoxy.

The epoxy is totally water proof, so it will work.

Will the Southern PolyUrathanes Epoxy/ build primers be compatable with PPG or other brands Base/Clears?

Also I could not tell from the site what all colors were available from SPI I will be going for a Forest Green shade.

I'm sure you won't have any compatability problems using the SPI stuff, Black surfacer is nice but requires a light colored guide coat which is tougher to see than if you used a lighter colored surfacer with a dark guidecoat. I like using lighter colored surfacers for this reason. JMO, Bob

I emailed barry about colors and right now I think the only colors are red, black, and blue but he plans to expand them, and spi products are compatible with PPG. The info is on the spi site you really just have to go through all the pages.

If you saw the colors on the site those are the only ones right now, he said they are the most popular for rod builders who are spi's biggest customer base. Hopefully more colors soon. The prices are really reasonable, everyone I asked is happy with the products, and the support is excellent from what Ive seen so far.
