How often do hooks wear out?

I was looking through the parts list of my Adler 467, and found the hook costs over $750!

How often do parts like this fail?

(Kind of spooked.)

Almost never under the conditions you will use the machine. If you were using the machine 24 hours a day at near full speed, like in a factory setting, you might have a chance of wearing the hook out. A more likely scenario would involve damaging the hook, but again, not very likely. My Consew 226 is almost 50 years old, and it had the hook replaced once in the past (not by me). The only part I ever had to replace was a needle bar, but that was because the screw that holds the needle broke off so I couldn't change needles.

Keep the machine oiled and have it checked for other worn parts, if you haven't done that already, and you should be good to go.

Check out Southstar Supply, their prices are much better than that: CLICK HERE

Thats good to know.

I look at the price lists and see the Pfaff and Adler parts prices compared to say Juki, and it almost stops my heart.

I'm hoping this thing lasts essentially forever, and I'm not sure if something does break if buying a new Tacsew or Juki is a better idea.

Your Adler is built like a tank. You don't need to worry about it.
