I am assuming you mean a picture on the internet.

The red X in a box means it cannot be displayed for one reason or another.

Yes as a matter of fact it is on the internet, some even on this forum. The GTO thread has some. Its strange that if they can not be read, why put them on forum. let me say it maybe a little more clear. It is the square boxes with red X in the center.

Try going to the upper task bar of your screen, click on "Tools" heading, scroll down to "Internet options", select the "Advanced " page, scroll down to the "Multimedia" heading and click the box that reads "Show Picture" if it's not already clicked. Exit and try the pix you had problems with before. This does not work for all pictures, but it may help you see more than you're seeing now.

try right clicking on the red X and click show picture. if that doesnt work you can also right click and click on properties, copy the URL and paste it into a internet browser and it may show up.

Most of the time why the pictures turn out to little boxes with the Red X in them is the place the pictures are hosted(being stored) is down or have removed it from the server.

Good luck

the red x's show where someons linked to a picture and either

a) it was posted a while ago, and the picture has since been removed from the site it was actualy hosted on
B) they made a mistake in the address of the picture.

if your attempting to view a red x, do this

left click on the x with your mouse
click "properties" on the pop up menu
check that the web adress of the image starts with "http://www."

if a picture is posted without the complete "http://www." the forum will not properly retrieve the image, and instead display it as a "broken image" (red x)
