Had one of those during the gas crisis in the early 80s.....didn't help any. If it's running too rich, you need to lean it out with larger metering rods,. There used to be charts with the different rods and sizes for Rochester carbs, but havn't seen any in years....maybe someone knows of a chart online.

hello
My anyone can help me with this carb.
small block 267 cid and rochester dualljet 210

After cleaning and assembling to the car, i start to tune carb.
Start with 3 & 1/2 turn mixture screw, now about 500rpm. Turning out more 4 turns rpm increase, 5 turns rpm increase to 700rpm, turning out 6 and 7 turns and nothing happens....

Now i have 5 &1/2 turns out mixture screw, idle is not bad car run quite well.

I think mixture can be too lean now and something is wrong??? Not enough fuel on idle...???

Sorry for my english.

if that's the stock carb on a stock engine then the stock rods and jets should be pretty close to exactly what you need. I would instead make sure every little passage on that carb is spotless, check your timing and advance, and check for vacuum leaks.

FAR too many time people start messing with rods or jets when its not what is needed at all. The stock setup should work on a stock engine.

That carb is basically just the front half of a Quadrajet. So everything that applies to a Quadrajet you can do to that carb. The first thing you should do is a complete disassembly and good cleaning. Check all the well plugs on the bottom of the main body for leakage, rebushing the throttle shafts, and install a new carb kit (with alcohol resistant gaskets and accelerator pump) and float. Then after you know the carb is functioning right then play with jets and needles.

Throttle is totaly closed and engine still running about 600 rpm!! ??? ( choke off, throttle stop screw turn out totaly) What is going on??
Mixture screws about 5 & 1/2 turn out..

I have this car half a year and carb and engine looks like stock. This is 4,4L V8 with EGR..

Carb have new bushing on trottle shaft, new gasket, all is ok, no air leaks. All hoses have been checked, and no vacum leaks.
All hoses carb were sprayed with the liquid bubbles during idle running..no vacum leaks...

I did on more thing/test... During idle i grab power piston and carefully move it to the top, and nothing happens Bigger jets realy can't help..

It seems you're confused on a few aspects of your carb.
Your high idle could be caused by the choke high idle screw needing adjustment.
Moving your power piston up all the way won't change the idle or adjusting your apt screw ( The double D screw right beside your ruler) won't either. They're both part of your power circuit.
Here's a lengthy link on how all the systems of your carb work.
