I have done a lot as far as quieting down the car with multiple layers of sound deadener, insulation, even inside the doors.

I am getting to the point of fine tuning, to reduce it as much as I can. (road noise)

I mainly have noise coming from 2 areas (I think)

1. Window and door weatherstrips
Some of the problem, is design. The window does not seal properly within the door assembly itself. This is simply is an old car issue.
The other is the seal from the chassis to glass, and chassis to door (or vice versa)

I'd like to hear if you guys have had any success in making improvements in sound control in this area.

2. The second area is firewall. Since I blocked the firewall and painted it body colour, it's difficult to imagine covering that up, or spraying it with bedliner, for example.

That leaves the inside of the firewall, I've done some, but it's challenging.

So I want to hear some of the things you guys have done in these areas. Have you had any success? I know I'm fighting 45 year old window and door design, and am only going to get so far, but that won't stop me from trying to get a little more of the road noise and firewall noise to b lessened.

Using the insulation like Dynamat or something like that on the inside of the firewall will go a long way in helping control noise. The windows are a different story. I have the same problem and have replaced all the seals the windows ride on etc, it helped but you still are at the mercy of an older vehicle.

Thanks, I think that was as I suspected.

Sometimes one of the fine hotrodders here comes across with a miracle solution though.

I am going to review the door weatherstrip, at the bottom, door to chassis and make sure it's all snug, and go from there.
