How is resistivity different from resistance?
i know resistivity is the property but this answer is not convincing, so tell me about it in simple scientific language which i can understand as i m in tenth class..

It's been a while since I looked at this but to understand the difference you must look at the equations for resistivity and resistance. A good place to start is:
http://www.answers.com/topic/resistivity Look under the definitions and explanation sections. Note resistivity is measured in terms of ohms per meter as in a length of wire of given area and resistance is measured in terms of ohms as in a resistor. Also by transposing the resistivity equation we can derive resistance. Hope this helps. BT |
