Post How slick is too slick?????

I have an 8 3/4 rear end out of a 67 a body mopar and i did a gear swap and I need to put rear lube in it. But how much is the question? one guy tells me two quarts and another says 5. I just need to know if anone out there would know for sure!!! thanks Cudaman

most of the time the excess oil will leak past the seal until it gets to the full level, but i doubt you want that to happen. needless to say i'm not sure

Not familiar wiht the Chrysler rear per-se but U.S. rears all seem to use the same system. There should be a filler plug, usually a pipe thread, about a third the way up the housing or the third member. Look ofr a screwed in plug that doesn't seem to serve any purpose. Just fill it thru this hole 'til it reaches the bottom of the hole and it will be exactly right!

When you buy your lube, get a pump too 'cause it is hard to get it in any other way.

I would go with about 1/2 in below the plug threads and no doubt use a sythetic lube, its so much better than the old 90 weight stuff its not even in the same class
