Question How strong is a TH 350 Automatic Transmission

I have a 76 Monte Carlo with a 10 bolt posi rearend. I plan to install a 400cid 425HP with 452 ft. Lbs. of torque.
My question is: Is a TH350 transmission strong enough for street (Hot Rodding)with this engine ?

*I am using 275-60-R15 tires on the rear.
*The car weighs 3900#

I am no expert on trannies, but I have a 400ci block making 500+ HP (before the NOS) running threw a TH350 tanny. I had a shop do a little work on it for me (firmer shifts bla bla bla) and I have yet to have any problems. If I do...so what..they come cheap.
But if you are still unsure, have a look at the B&M th350 or some from many other aftermaket dealers.
They rebuild them adding cluth plates, tweaking the valves ext.

Bottom line (in my opinion) is that if you do not plan on pushing your car REAL hard on the street...you should be just fine.

TH 350 are great transmissions and it should hold up nicely for your application. As with any tranny, just make sure it's staying cool even if this means adding a transmission cooler.
