how to tell

how can i tell if the bearings are gone on the alternator i can move the pulley easy in both directions is that good or bad

If the bearings are going, it will usually get hot. Is it generating any heat or is it noisy?

there is a squealing sound when running gets louder when pushin on gas pedal

are you sure the belt is tight or isn't glazed i would replace the belt and try that

Mine was chirping a lot at higher rpm's ... turned out the bearings were shot.

HEY STONEY: I do not know about your area but around here most of the auto parts stores have a test fixture for running alternators. They have the ability to spin a normal running RPM and you should be able to have it checked out dynamically for free. Or look under Auto Electrics in phone book, they could also check it out for you....GOOD LUCK...DAVE
