How wide would it be

Ok here is the first dumb question of the week, well maybe not dumb.
I plan on using QA1 ciol-over shocks with ½ “ eye loops on both ends and making brackets.
Making the brackets was no problem but I’m using a setup rod for now, so I don’t have the shocks. I plan on using sleeves with one welded in to maintain center and the other un-welded. I know it’s partly a matter of personal preference but.
The Question is how wide would the gap between the brackets be? Or how wide would a average Shock eye be with a rubber fitting not a solid bearing?
