How would this style box look on full size truck?

I am working on an 85 Chevy 4x4. It is a short box frame, but unfortunately the fleet side box is to far gone to fix and in order to get a "southern" rust free box up here in Wisconsin you have to pay a pretty good penny to the guys hauling them. I am think of building my own kind of step side box. I like the way the stock ones look except for the big flared out fender. I am thinking of going with a simpler look smaller stake pockets that run perfectly rectangular flat sides with maybe a simple arched fender with no flare kind of like a trailer. I want the truck to look nice but it will still be something I drive almost everyday and it will be for work not show. The picture I found is from First Class Rat I kind of like this one maybe a little deeper inside and a little shorter on the outside so you can see the frame and no wood perhaps a diamond plate floor in it?
What do you guys think???

I am thinking that the flat sheetmetal band type fenders will make it look too backyard.

How about narrowing the stock stepside 73-87 bubble fenders to make them real thin, then make a tub in the widened stepside bed?

Here's my 66 done like that

That is very slick there F&J. You did a fine job of making a mod that looks like Chevy "should have" offered. Nice job!
