Hi everyone

Just wanted to say hello to everyone here on the board.

i've done any number of google searches and ended up here while doing research for a 305 performance build (yes, i actually used the words "performance" and "305" in the same sentence together–i know how much some folks just love 'em so much) on my 1987 El Camino SS. So thank you guys for all the help even though you didn't know it.

I just finished the aforementioned 87, which had the stock gutless 305/200R4 setup. It was going to be a daily so i wanted a fairly stock looking CA smog legal build with respectable streetable power so I added:
TrickFlow Super 23 Aluminum Heads/1.5 roller rockers
XE262H cam/lifters
Performer EGR intake
L69 Dual Snorkel set up
MSD 6 ignition/coil/8.5 mm plug wires
Holley fuel pump
GMPP serpentine kit
3-row aluminum radiator
Spal dual electric fans
Edelbrock TES headers
3" single exhaust w hi flow cat (it actually came w/a half assed "dual" w/the cats cut out but i thought a properly sorted single would be better suited for my application)
200R4 rebuilt to Grand Nat'l spec/shift kit
slotted front discs
Hotchkis TVS Suspension full kit + shocks/rear air bags
3.73/Posi rear end
16" IROCs w 225/60/15 Fr 245/55/16 R

Kept the stock Q-jet and Distributor, although i have a MSD Pro-Billet waiting in the wings. i've been quite happy with the build and it makes good power, you can even chirp the tires in 2nd and sometimes 3rd. I ran it for awhile while locating a smog pump to work with the serp kit and actually ran a bit smoother and better after i reconnected the smog pump and AIR tubes/lines. Idle is nice w just a slight lope to it. I'd like to do a dyno tune and burn a new chip and also a leather/power seat conversion w a pair of seats from a 01 Camaro.

I also have a 71 El Camino that was fully restored in 03 but is being restored again after a fire. I had put a 383 stroker/700R4/3.73 posi/slotted discs set up in. the 383 and everything A-pillar back survived the fire but it wasn't pretty... here's a before pic and one of the motor in its current rebuilt state... motor's done and it's at the body shop now. I think i've decided to make it a full on SS clone so it'll be getting a working cowl hood, ss stripes and a prolly SS dash/gauge conversion. I'll post pix after it's done.

Looking forward to chatting with y'all in the future...
