Howdy, I am new to this site. My son and I have a 1959 Chevy Feetside truck.
I have an alternator on my 59 Chevy truck, but it was put on before I bought the truck. I need to know the proper wiring diagram for this, because the truck was originally on a generator. Does anyone have this?

Thanks for the diagram for the alternator
The guy that sold me the truck did not have a voltage regulator attached. I am assuming that the "F" is the field on the alternator and voltage regulator He had the field lead from the alternator to the ballast resistor on the firewall. Is this ok? I guess that I will need to get the voltage regulator.
Thanks again for the diagram. Randy |

Doc here,
The Number 1 wire (BIG red 10 gauge) will go to the FUSE LINK (if not installed, install a proper one) then to the Starter BIG BOLT on the solenoid. The second smaller red , will go to the big red wire on the alternator ( jumper). The third wire ( Brown) will go to the charge lamp. IF the field wire (Brown wire) goes to the ballast resistor, remove it and find another place for the ballast, in that configuration, the engine will not turn off when you shut off the key..the alternator will keep the coil energized. The ballast should come from the "hot in run" only position on the Ignition.. Doc
