Howdy You guys!!!

I put a 350 into my 1948 Chev Coe. I placed it in the engine compartment, which caused me to cut a hole in the floor and fire wall. I need to build an engine cover for it. What is the lightest sheet metal i can use for this? I want to use steel for it. It has to not flex. Am i making an sense? Please advise.
Thanks for your time, and have loads of fun.

Whatever you make it out of, steel, fibreglass............you will want to insulate it well to cut down on heat and noise.

Any chance of getting a fibreglass one out of a later model full size van and cut it to fit?

I had thought about that. I had to cut a hole in the floor 23" wide. I ended up using a s10 gas pedal, and have just barley enough room to get my feet in. It is way cool.
Thanks for the input.
