HP estimate, 350 Chevy
Hey guys, was hoping someone here could give me an estimate on how much horse power this combo will put out, it's the first engine I have built in about 20 years and am using a lot of parts from old projects. It's a 350 sbc, std bore, TRW flat tops, 461 heads, very ported ,2.02-1.60 stainless valves, milled ..010 screw in studs@guide plates. Schneider solid lifter cam, 510 lift, intake duration 284 240 at 050- exhaust duration 304 260 at 050- 107 LS. Have and old Weiand single plane from the 80's not sure what it is, no pn. Carter Super Comp AFB 750 cfm. Hooker super comps 1-3/4 primaries, 3 inch outlet. Mallory dual point, might go with HEI. Moroso windage tray. Its going into a 71 Nova, Turbo 350, 3500 stall, Ford 9 inch with 4.56 gears, Lakewood spring perch traction bars, frame connectors. A LOT of this is stuff I already have and am on a budget to go have a little fun. Play a little on the street on the weekends. Any hp estimate would be much appriciated. Oh yea, also have an Edelbrock crossram with all the linkage, had it forever also, got from a guy who couldn't make it work and never tried it myself.

Compression caculated to a very close 11-1, intake and exhaust both 510 lift. I got the cam from a bud and he lost the cam card, gonna call Schneider to get the specs.

Thanks ericnova72, never thought it could be a circle track cam, what you said makes sense. Yea, never really thought seriously about using the cross ram, it just looks neat sitting on the shelf, got a lot of people over the years that wanted to buy it. I want to stick with a solid cam over hyd because they seem to rpm so much quicker and make more hp, although I have been out of it for almost twenty years so I'm not real hip on modern hyd cam design's. The last solid I ran in a 350 was an Isky Z-30, 480 lift, 250 at .050 and 280 total. It ran SO good and rpm'd very fast, might just go with it again, Isky still has em.

i'm with the @400 group.
lose the cross ram, hot rod did a dyno test and a rpm blew its doors off. same with the old *** heads, vortecs will destroy them according to vissard. i was unimpressed with my 461's that were pocket ported. seemed like my 'maro shoulda had alot more balls than it did. my 2c |
