Post HP guesst-mate

Well, the block bored real nice and is honed to perfection. Time to start chasing threads and assemble. If anyone can run the numbers on a HP estimate, sure appreciate it.

1. Quadrajet 795
2. Edlebrock Performer intake
3. Edlebrock Performer heads (64cc)
4. xtreme energy cam: .462/.469 lift and duration @ .050 is 218/224 and lobe separation is 110 degrees
5. Flatop Hypereutectic .60 pistons
6. Block is normal deck height and bored .60 over.

I am assuming Chevy, but you forgot to include the displacement...360?

Hope this helps. I ran this on a dyno2000 program and got the following.

372hp at 5000 rpm and 368 at 5500, 426 ft/# at 3500. torque is pretty flat 406 at 2000 and 390 at 5000.

In a 77 camaro (stock w/3.42) shows a 13 sec quarter mile.

I used Edelbrock flow numbers and assumed headers and mufflers (not race).

Would like to hear from others about accuracy of the program. figure it's ballpark at best but at least gives some Idea.

That's more than I guessed. Nice. I'm restricted in two areas right now. First, I have the orig. cast iron ex. manifolds and duals.

Once I recover from this rebuild I'll make plans to add shorty hedders.

Isn't having fairly flat torque a good thing for a cruiser?

Hey Jimm, tell me what you mean by fat torque curves? I'm thinking this means I have bags of torque at just about any rpm. That's good yah?

I've sent the rotating assembly out for balancing and went with roller tip rocker arms. Will that change the HP?

Below are the results I got. I was not sure what to put in for vehicle weight - I went with 3100#.

Jimm - I have an update to the parts database - it will be ready next week.

Well, I promised that I'd get back to y'all after she was buttoned up.

First, thanks to Rhamm1320 who's virtual dyno numbers "feel" like what I have.

I went the extra mile and had the rotating assembly balanced. *lots of side jobs to pay for THAT ONE!!

First impression was not good. She bogged in first and generally was unimpressive. But I decided to be patient and give it a good break in. Did a 5 hr. run in the mountains at various speeds and it did run better but still bogging on take off and not great power.

Soooo, off to the speed shop to replace the old wire set, points, hotter coil, curve kit.

Put in the wires, coil and points and it is starting to come alive. No more bog on take off and bags of torque and power comes on big time in higher revs. The idle is slightly lumpy at low idle. It is the perfect rumble that says 50's hot rod. Over 800 rpm'ish the engine gets very smooth.

Bottom line, I am very happy and have quite a bit more work to do with the big quadrajet and curve kit. The build is perfect for a heavy car that will be driven alot but still has some gitty up and go
