hp, torque, tranny, gear setup for '32 'glass roadster

I'd like to hear from some folks who have a early 'glass roadsters (or similar car about 2,300 lbs) as to their prefences for hp, torque, cam, tranny, and gear setup.

On a budget, building (OK, OK assembling) a '32 fiberglass roadster, probably from Ravon. I'm not really going to race it anywhere, just cruise to some events, scoot around town, frighten soccer moms in parking lots, that kind of thing. I like 'kick in the pants' low end, not interested in top end speed.

I'm thinking of a budget GM crate 350 that puts out 260 hp, 350 ft/lb torque. I'd love to build a 383 for the torque, but I'm not sure such a light car could even really put that to the ground reliably. I'm not going to have wide meats, and whitewalls are pricey!

700r4 tranny because of its lower first gear, and rear gears in the mid 3's (not sure of exact tire size yet).

Doing a comparison of car weight to hp and weight to ft/lb., it looks pretty good for the price.

Helpful suggestions or comments?
