Maybe there should be a rookie answer section... I'm a fairly new guy here but I'm not a fan of all the HP/TQ questions as well as the "my GF's Subaru won't start...what's wrong" queries.... a guy can only take so much!

Then really there is no need to reply if they have taken more than they can handle. I really feel it's as simple as that. I understand what you are saying. I like the idea of a rookie section. Then those that like to help the rookies can do so or not. I just think the responses with that kind of attitude scare new people off from asking questions and hurt the board.

Ideas for changes to the forum can be posted here. Ideas like this have come and gone, but it never hurts to run it by the powers that be for another look. But it could take awhile to do- unless you are told no; that only takes a minute to do.

But point is, there are still things that don't work from when the forum changed hands.

Ya a help the rookie section would be cool. I don't know. It's probably not really needed. I just think people could lighten up a bit with their responses. Yes some questions get asked a lot. And maybe people don't use the search function enough. But I don't see any reason to be so harsh. There were others who made the same suggestion. It's not what you say. It's how you say it. I love this site. But I'd hate to get bad vibes here and have newer guys turned off with posting here. We all have to start somewhere. That goes for both being a gear head and using a forum like this. Sites like this need traffic. That brings in advertising dollars. I'm sure the powers that be would agree.

I concur Localboy. Hence my saying " Its nice to be important, but It's important to be nice"
I like to try and encourage the new people, to stay, to ask questions,to take part.
There are a few guys still here that are often "short" or rather "Curt" and downright rude at times. We tell them if you are tired of reading the same horsepower question, then dont read the thread. Read somewhere else.
Not everyone is saavy to the map of our website right from the get go. Heck I was posting for a month when I got here before I realized I was supposed to introduce myself.
Sometimes(most times) a kind word of advice goes a LOT further than a snappy one line remark, intended to hurt someones feelings.

We sometimes have that, as I said , just ignore it or dont bother with the post.
I personnaly field a lot of Subaru wont run types of questions due to my nature. Some questions are basic, some a little more technical.I dont mind helping. Its one way to help my fellow man with help he deserves. If he trying to fix his car, that better than panhandling on the corner for the money to buy one, or a beer whatever.Point is, I dont mind someone who is trying to help themselves, I give them a hand up. I dont like giving handouts.
