Yeah, that thing packs winds like a tornado but that power is not concentrated in the (by comparison) tiny path of a tornado. It's *huge*. I just watched one of the networks and they talked about the levees acting like a cereal bowl when the storm surge hits.

The outskirts got it more than the city. I thought they were goimg to get hit for sure. The forecast is calling for the leftovers to be here on Tuesday or Wednesday. With winds in excess of 35 MPH,and heavy rains. Lets just hope that thing does not spawn any damn tornados. Ever notice how those sneaky SOB's always occur at night where you can not see what the hell you are doing???

Things seem to be much better than expected. The dry air from texas seems to have beaten down the western side enough to spare this side.

Electrical power seems to be out most everywhere. I am lucky as my part of Baton Rouge got a lot of wind and a little rain. The phones are in and out but we only lost power for 3 minutes.

Having been some of the places the weather channel has been showing under water in Naw Lens, as the locals pronounce it, I am glad I do not live there. I have relatives that stayed put in Houma and faired well. My daughter lives in St. Amant, about 1/3 of the way to NO lost power and got a lot of wind and rain. No serious damage in their neighborhood either.

I feel sorry for Mississippi and Alabama. The eye was fully land locked and still had 125 mph winds north of Gulf Shores.

SOme fools are trying to go to to NO but are being stopped in La Place. That is just west of big lake they were worried would fill NO up if the levees broke

Good thing it turned slightly. Reports I've read say the storm surge in New Orleans was 15 feet instead of the feared 28 feet. Part of Mississippi got a 22 ft surge. Isn't the levee at New Orleans 20 feet tall?

Greetings from the coast of Florida. My name is Robert and I'm a close friend of Chris. I just got off the phone with him a few minutes ago, and he is okay. He told me to tell all of you that he is okay and that their house is in good condition. No one in Chris's family was injured. However, since Louisiana is in a state of emergency all donations will be gladly accepted. Things needed-

~nonperishable food
~water
~gloves
~anything else you think helpful

If you'd like to get anything to Chris, you can PM me and I'll give you some information. I'm sure Chris thanks you from the bottom of his heart for your support and help. If you have any questions or comments you can PM me or email me directly at robert.j.keith@gmail.com Thanks for your support.

Bob
