Sorry for my sloth in updating you. I heard from Chris the other night and all is still well. Unfortunately the postal service is down and will be for quite some time. So, the only way to get supplies to him is through another relation slightly north of him. If you'd like to get anything to him you may email me at robert.j.keith@gmail.com and I will give you the information. The stories of community in Chris's area are unbelievable, people coming together to help each other. If you can't help Chris directly you may want to check your local bank, many of them have accounts set up for Katrina survivors. Thank you for all your patience and support.

Donations

Anything and everything is appreciated. You can bring donations to your local red cross, salvation army, wal-mart, or almost any bank in the country.

Jon, thanks for giving us the opportunity to put out info and updates.
As one of the people affected, it really means a lot.

I know this may seem a little odd, but I thought I'd update you on Chris. He and his family are doing very well. Things are really looking up for them. They got power back today, and Chris's place of work has been open for a few days now. I'm sure that he and all the people in the region send their thanks for your thoughts, support, and prayers.

What up Fellas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for your prays and thoughts through all of this.

We faired fairly well here where I live. I live in Abita Springs, which is on the North Shore of Lake Ponchatrain about 50 miles north of N.O. We had a lot of extremely strong winds and tons of rain. There was no flooding in my area, but we did have a lot of trees come down. One landed on the house, only put a small hole in the roof, nothing serious. There are quite a few houses in my neighborhood that sustained major damage, roofs blown, trees through/in them....

After Katrina passed, the clean up began. No more than an hour after the storm we were out in the streets with a crew cutting trees and clearing the roads. It was amazing how the neighborhood pulled together. I have lived here for 2 years, and have gotten to know my neighbors more in the past 4 months than ever before.

We lost power, of course, for 22 days. During that time we were running on generator power. I now swear by the Coleman Powermate 6250Watt generator LOL. That thing ran 2 fridges, a deep freezer, a window a/c until, a small tv, numerous lights, the big tv, the surround sound, the washer and dryer(gas), ceiling fans at night, and who knows what else. And it never showed any sign of slowing down!

The restraunt I work at finally opened up the second thursday (9/15/05) after the storm. So far I have work 18 days in a row with no day off yet (I'm off on Friday!!!) We went in to clean it out on Saturday (9/10/05). EVERYTHING in the restraunt had to be tossed!! The stench was unbelievable, and the colors the food changed to was unreal. But, we finally opened and have been busier than ever.

Now, we just try to continue on with our lives. So far we are doing pretty good.

Chris

PS: I uploaded pics to my gallery

Glad to hear you all faired well.I remember when a tornado ripped through about 8 years ago.Missed my moms home by feet.It damaged the neighbors home, and uprooted a few trees in my moms yard. They of course do not take out as much as a hurricane, but they change lives in a second.
I wish you all luck and a speedy return to some sort of normallacy.

I was in Jefferson tuesday and Harahan on wednesday and thursday. The media did not do justice to the destruction I saw. My boss has been to Slidell and brought back pics of a field of "poles" where 100 ft pine trees once stood.

I hope your family is OK.
