Hurricane Charlie & Bonnie

I'm kind of concerned about some of the members who could have gotten hit by the worst of either of these Hurricanes. Everything work out ok for you guys down there? Around midnight my area is supposed to get hit with whats left of Charlie in the form of a tropical storm.

For all the folks in the path of the storm either already hit or going to be, I wish you the best and may God be with you. I looked it up and saw some pretty bad damage around Tampa and Orlando. Theres a lot of folks out there tonight that have lost it all.

My parents live near Ft. Myers, Florida, I am there now. No damage. My cousin lives on Pine Island and they lost all their trees, but the house is OK. Everyoneis safe. I drove through Punta gorda and the pictures on TV don't even come close. The cool thing is that I passed convoy after convoy of tree trijmmer trucks and electricians from EVERYWHERE coming to help! Those guys rule!

One local drugstore owner opened his store and gave all the inventory away! He said that the poeple of the town were his good customers and he felt he had to help them out. Way to go!

Its just sad that it almost always takes a catastrophe to bring out the good nature in people, but that was a heck of a thing for the guy to do.

One of our members lives in Haines City which the eye passed over. Though it's in the middle of the state, know they took a hit also. Unable to contact as of yet. Sort of erie. I was in Lake Wales, Fla when Donna traveled almost the same route and I passed through the area the day before Charley hit. When I was in the Keys, talked with a gent that had just moved to Punta Gorda. He was there picking up his boat so he could get it out of the way of the storm. Took it to his new home, just to get it trashed. His new home suffered lots of damage, but nothing like what we are seeing on the media. Irony was, he left the Keys to get away from the high threat storm area. As a side note, he worked his entire career in Chevy. later GM, engine developement center. Definitely the most knowledgable small block Chevy person I ever met.
