I just returned today after spending a few days of helping out in the Navare area. That place along the coast & the east bay is a battle zone. It looks like it has been bombed on some areas.
I really felt bad saturday for the people standing in line getting food, water and clothing. It did not matter how rich or how poor you were Ivan brought everyone down to level. Navare area had 50% power by Tuesday.
The lines were a mile long at any gas station that had generator power to pump fuel. Law Enforcement & National Guard people were at most stations to prevent fights and people cutting in to the long lines.
I could not belive the homes and business that were just about leveled. There were more power lines down than up.
Interesting though most I talked to would rather go through that than to live in the cold northern states and put up with snow & ice.
I was impressed that so many states sent so much help to get things rolling quickly.
We need to keep these people in our thoughts.
