hvlp streaks

well IM having some issues with a devilibiss finish line hvlp with a 1.3 .I'M so dang frustrated I almost grabbed my old conventional gun today I have sprayed a hand full of cars trucks boats ect in the past It's been about 4 years now so I decided to purchase a hvlp and let me tell you I'M so close to giving up,with the old guns you didn't have to worry about atomazation you get plenty of that.I got to hand it to you guys who can shoot it on like glass.i've tryed everything that I know to do, including reducing clear warming clear in warm water which help good tip, spraying reducer over top of a wet coat of clear which did help alot but I should not have to do that. I get close but not good enough.I tryed increasing and decreasing pressure air fan and fluid. today I was getting streaks in the spray pattern can anybody tell me what causes that? the pattern is not heavy top bottom or center,It's just quarter inch gaps in pattern. the gun is clean and everything is tight. maybe I just settle for a bad gun but the satas and iwatas are out of my range right now. any help would be appreciated.....

sounds like a hole in the air horn/cap is not round. It can sometimes get a little build up of material on one side that can affect it's "roundness"/// Look with a magnifying glass.

The outside of the air cap/horns need be clean and not nicked or the air that comes through isn't uniform..

Rotate your air cap 180*. If the gaps follow, you know the problem is with the air cap. If not, the problem lies in either the gun setup, or with the needle/fluid tip.

What brand gun is it? How many atomization holes are there behind the air cap, and on the air cap beside the center hole. If ANY hole has a little tiny bit of crud, it can really screw with your pattern.

Also, if its a cheap gun, could it be maybe your fan is too wide for what the gun can produce? If you narrow it down to about a 3" tall pattern, does it do the same thing?
