Two rounds will be way to much and will come close to bottoming out the lifter plunger, if it doesn't hit bottom before you get that far. Something between 1/8 and 3/4 is what almost everyone uses.

I've gotta agree....two rounds is way too much. We always ran 1/4 to 1/2 a round. Worked fine.....

Using 3/8-24 studs and 1.5 ratio rockers, two full turns would be about 0.125" (1/8") of preload- too much.

and valve floating here it comes, from what gather the lifters are pumping up hard @ idle, and most of the time when the valves are tighter you limit the rpm's the engine can turn...iv had engine buliders tell me 1/4 turn is the best set, for the street and race for the hyd flat tappet cams!
