i.a.c.

Is it common for the i.a.c. to wear out on an older 4.3 v6? If it goes how hard is it to replace or refurbish?
Thanks, Clint

It is common for them to get gummed up and need cleaned. It simply unscrews from the side of the throttle body.Has wires plugged into it and is a large size hex I think 1and 1/16. unscrew it and clean with carb cleaner reinstall.

Handle it carefully and don't disturb the pintle. And yes, they do wear out.

If you take the IAC off and clean it don't forget to clean the seat it seals on. Usually a Q tip will do the job if you can't get a fat finger in there.
