I feel sorry for this person.

Got a friend of the family that came up here from NC in search of work without checking the area out first

He's only been here 2 days and already is feeling how bad it is. So now hes up here staying for free at my grandma's. Cant blame him though, the job market does suck and 2 other people are living there for free unemployed.

I just glad that I might have a job at apple finaly. But I have to wait on my backround check to come back and my credit report. It's so not fair that your hired based on your credit. Not right, just not right.

It's that piece of paper on the back of most apps now that says something like "Fair Federal Credit Repoting Act" or something like that. Unless I'm wrong, but it sure doesnt seem like it.

The same goes for banks. Most don't even want you to keep your money there unless you have good credit.

No job and no bank account to put anything in makes it real hard to climb out of any hole.

Makes you kind of want to go postal doesn't it

You want to improve yourself, but with every application you fill out you just can't swing the feeling that something, or someone just doesnt want you to get on your feet again.

Years ago I was denied a job b/c I had a high credit card debt. They told me it makes it more likely I would steal from them. I replied that if I was a thief I would have the money to pay off my credit cards. Duh.

BTW Last week I tried to get a debit/credit card merchant account for my business and was denied. B/C of my debt ( 5 houses ) I am a high risk. Hello!!!!! I want to take in OTHER peoples money. I am not asking for a loan.

There are a lot of businesses doing this lately. They run a credit report to see how dependable you are i.e how well do you handle your money, are you steady, responsible etc .

I tried to hire a guy once who was very good (unix admin). He would have fit right in. But after the background/credit check, it was discovered that he was busted in college (more than 5 years prior) for smoking a joint. He didn't disclose that on the application form. HR said that if he did put it on the form, he would have been hired, but since he didn't, he 'lied', so they declined any job offer...

If you're inferring something there, I don't appreciate that - I * wanted * to hire him, the HUMAN RESOURCES department refused to let me hire him.
