With out anyone helping me but your guys's tips I finally Painted my engine block.. i hope i did it right.. I taped off every hole i could find.. put on the old timing chain cover .. and the old oil pan.. but .. i hope i did alright for my first time.. and my common sence ..

but i do have a ?.. i think tomorrow ill put another coat on.. but until then.. should i put the engine back in the bag.. or shouldi just leave it uncoverd on the stand?..

How many coats have you done? I'd do 2 or 3 -- but then, I have no knowledge or experience in this department (yet).

Man, I'm doing new stuff on my beloved truck every week!

I cut into the body (my first time ever) and put new backup lights on it -- I bought a pair of 1953 Chevy pickup parking lights. I also put chrome exhaust tips on -- made a huge difference in the look of the back! And I finally got the radio I wanted -- 1955 Chevy AM/FM Cassette stereo ... then I made a faceplate for it (to cover up the mess and holes in the dash, made by the PO) and with a little water, and some clamps, I matched the curve of the dash with it!

LOL! I've never had so much fun, bro'!

Next month I'm having ALL the dings and scratches fixed up. I'll be removing my gas fill door to get a computer match on the paint color (hope that goes well) ... and then I'm having the front grill, running boards, and Chevy logo on the tailgate painted a new color -- the same color as the truck, only much darker and with some metal-flake or pearl.

Thanks for asking, man -- I COULD go on ... and on ... but I'll spare ya's.

PS -- When I get the computer color-match, I guess I could give you info about the "real" color.

That Would Be Sweet! .. sounds like ur having fun.. i wanna relocate my gas tank also.. but dunno where to put it or where to install the filler.. ya the color of ur truck looks expensive.. i bet it is.. do u... i but 2 coats on.. i dunno if i should put another or not..

Looks good, I'd leave it out to. If you have it coated well enough you may not want to paint it again.After it's cured overnight make the call, use your besrt judgement. I noticed you are shooting the empty block, make sure to wipe (or scrape with a single edged razor blade if neccesary) any areas that may have gotten paint on/in it that shouldn't have.

Put 3 coats on, man. 3 is always a good number.


It's a 3-stage paint job on my truck, I think ... nice clear-coat - definitely a classy job. Man, I really had some "beginner's luck" when I bought this truck.
