Post I have a 1970 454 engine , need help

I bought a 454 eng & th400 for $650 last week , that came off a 1970 station wagon.(i was told )
Well i want to know if anyone knows the stock Horse Power for this 70'eng. ? I am having a hard time tring to find the pecs for this.?

Anyoune please help ...My buddy told me that they
came with 356 Horse power stock....I cant really take his word , i need more opinions...thanks

I think you mean 3 6 5 Horsepower. Your friend is correct. 365 was a rating some for 1970 Chevrolet 454s.

sounds like you got a sweet deal, sounds like you got an ls-5 big block and th-400 for 650bucks take a look at the crank, it should have a 1/2 inch wide center ridge on the flange behind the flexplate, makeing it a forged steel crank.

all you will need to do is do a little port and polish job on the heads, give it a COMP magnum 292 hydraulic cam, and a preformer RPM intake and youŽll have a durable 500 HP engine.

sounds like your friend got the worst part of that deal of you ask me.
