I was thinking I'd addressed that on an earlier post (the question of hard drugs). My preferred position were I made the dictator in charge: Eliminate all drug laws for adults. However, anyone caught giving what are now considered illicit drugs to a minor would face very serious consequences, up to and including life in jail.

Just as a point of reference, I once lived in a country where there were no drugs laws of any kind. The local legal system simply did not address the issue. One could walk down the street openly smoking a joint. There were a number of opium dens openly operating. Yes, there were some opium addicts, just as there are alcoholics in many countries. But, there were no drive by shootings. No petty crime to support drug habits, as the drugs were affordable. No corrupt cops taking bribes to look the other way. No immense prison population requiring vast amounts of money to keep incarcerated, etc, etc.

Funny you mention that. A horrible movie in my opinion, but it did win an Oscar. I was a participant in that Far East misadventure for 6 years and never once heard of a case of Russian Roulette being played by anyone. Certainly no Vietnamese I ever ran across would have dared do something so dangerous and foolhardy.

Hold on there ratchet. I for one would like to personally like to ask all the dope smokin slackers here in my beloved Colorado to jump on the next plane to Laos. I am sure the goverment there will respect all their "unalienable rights".
