I Need Help With 31/32? Chevy

I hope that there is somone out there that can help me with a problem that I'm having identifying an old Chevy. It's a customers car Actually it's a 31 Chevy 1/2T pickup Truck. At least that's what he told me it was. I do mostly old Fords so I am at the mercy of the customer on this one. The problem that I'm having is, the front fenders had to be replaced because of an accident and we ordered a set of Fiberglass fenders from Speedway for a 31. Speedway told us that the Pickups were the same as a coupe so they should fit just fine. The problem is that the fenders at the running boards are about 2" too wide. They are not widened fenders or anything like that so I was wondering if the truck could accually be a 32. Or if Chevy would have used left-over 30 fenders on their trucks. Maybe Speedway has some VERY crappy fenders.1931 was the first year Chevy made a truck as far as I can determine. If there are any old Chevy buffs out there can you help me out with this one?

Can you post a pic of what the problem actually looks like?

That's a good idea. I will take a pic tomorrow and see if I can figure out how to post it.

I wonder if someone didn't make those running boards and they are not original?

Just a thought.

I got a call from Speedway today and they told me that they were mistaken when they told us that the truck fenders were the same as car. I talked to someone from the filling station today and he said that the 31 trucks were the same as 29/30 car. So does anybody want to buy some 31 car fenders? Marty at speedway told me that we could return them but we would have to pay the frieght. About $100.00.....That kinda sucks but what are ya gonna do?

If there is anybody that has a 29 or 30 Chevy car maybe you could confirm what the Filling Station told me. the running boards are 10" wide at the fender and the splash aprins are about 6" high.

I would HAVE to call back and talk to some one higher up.

It was their bad info and their fault.......they should pay the freight....IMHO
