Post I need some help

I have a 78 z-28 I'm doing for a project. I bought it with trans trouble. It has a 350 trans in it right now. My money is tight on this project so trying to use what I have when I can. I have a very good working powerglide in a 63 chevy parts car. I don't know what 1st gear it has, anyone??
I have never ran a glide in anything on the street so unsure if I'll like it. Her is some info on the car and my plans. 3.42 gear rear, mild 350 ( 280 comp cam, vortec heads, Perf. RPM intake, you get the idea) The car will be lightened 300lbs. or so from factory weight. I'm leaving thr engine alone for now other than putting my cheater nitrous system on it.
Has anyone gone to a glide for a street car. I will be running the car this next season at the track as well. Can anyone run this through one of those et programs to see if I will increase the et by doing this. I would be willing to give up abit but if it's going to be alot I will put another 350 in it. This car will be my driver but will be at the track most weekends. Mt only concern is the weight of this car compared to the strip only cars we have used them in in the past. I always tell others that this isn't the way to go for the street but I'm trying to use what we have. Thanks for the advice.

Low gear is 1.76 or the vastly more rare 1.82.
The Turbo 350 has a 2.52

1.76X 3.42 = 6.0192
2.52X 3.42 = 8.6184

You decide :p :p
